String Ensemble

ACT String Ensemble

The String Ensemble will rehearse on Wednesday afternoons from 4.30pm till 5.30pm during school terms at the IMP facilities adjacent to UCHS Kaleen. The ACT String Ensemble will be conducted by Vivianne Anthrak. The ensemble is an extension and performance opportunity for past and present students of the IMP String Program in ACT Education Directorate Primary Schools. The ensemble will perform at a range of Directorate and Community events throughout the year.

The ACT String Ensemble is an excellent opportunity for hard-working, skilled and committed young string players to work together in an enriching environment. The ensemble members will study and perform challenging repertoire, often by contemporary Australian composers. Membership in the SE is for one year. Students will be required to re-audition for the String Ensemble each year if they wish to continue.

The cost for membership in the SE is $100. You will be required to purchase the String Ensemble polo shirt and students will be required to wear black formal slacks and black shoes for performances. Auditions for the SE will be held online in late Term 4. Audition times will be allocated after the closing date for applications, and you will be notified of this specific date and time by email. You will be advised of the results of the audition by the end of Term 4. Rehearsals will commence in Week 3 of Term 1,  and will continue throughout the year, during school terms only. First Rehearsal for 2024 will be Wednesday 14/2/24.
