System Bands
The IMP's System Bands
The staff of the IMP voluntarily administer and direct four after-hours concert bands. All four of these bands are self funding and operate almost entirely on members' contributions. They do receive some assistance from the IMP in the form of loans of bigger instruments to members and access to the resources of the IMP such as the print music library and rehearsal space. Almost all of the equipment of the system bands - such as music stands, stand banners, percussion, etc - has been purchased with funds earned by the bands themselves.
Senior Concert Band performing at Winter Winds 2008
None of the system bands are "community bands" in the sense that they are open to members of the public. They each have a particular reason for their existence, and the membership is selected by audition of students from ACT Department of Education schools only.
Further information about each of the bands, including the audition process, and where applicable, the audition application forms and rubrics can be found on the individual band pages.
