IMPACT administers a valuable pool of resources that allow a number of ACT Government primary schools to offer group lessons on fife, recorder & ukulele. These resources include skilled and qualified teachers, musical instruments and print music. These Classes are offered to selected students from Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 (fife) and Years 4, 5 & 6 (recorder & ukulele)depending on school numbers. The Classes are held during school time and in groups of up to 25 students. Recorder students develop skills on recorder, tuned and untuned percussion with some students moving on to treble and tenor recorder in their second year. Fife students develop skills on fife, untuned (bass and snare drum) and tuned percussion with a focus on memory learning leading up to marching whilst playing in their second year. Ukulele students will work on chords and notes as well as incorporating singing into their lessons. A school-based teacher assists with the management of the Class and is the Director of the school group at performances.
